Obituary

Edward M. "Hot Dog" Janusko, formerly of Farrell, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, February 4, 2019, in Nugent's CCRC, Hermitage. He was 88.

Mr. Janusko was born April 30, 1930, in Farrell, a son of the late Michael and Amelia (Ulasz) Janusko. He attended St. Adabert's Parochial Grade School, was a 1948 alumnus of Farrell High School and attended Youngstown State University. Ed honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A self-employed bricklayer for than 50 years, he was a member of Bricklayer Union, Local 9, Austintown, OH. In 1983, his work took him over-seas to Saudi Arabia, where he remained for 6 months.

Ed was renowned locally for his masonry work and was very proud that much of his work can still be seen throughout the Shenango Valley. Ed was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, and a lifelong member of the Lions Club, Farrell. A scratch golfer, Ed loved the game and spending time on the course with close friends, especially "The Herd" whom he played with for more than 40 years. He was a former champion of the Punch McDowell Memorial Cup hosted at Sharon Country Club, and also had two hole-in-ones. The first was at the 18th hole of Tam O'Shanter, Hermitage, and the second was at the 3rd hole of Oak Tree Country Club, West Middlesex.

Ed's greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his beloved family, particularly his children and grandchildren.

His wife, the former Mary Reda, whom he married August 29, 1959, passed away August 2, 2017.

Ed is survived by two daughters, Josie (Jeffery) Teaberry, Farrell, and Jana (Dr. Constantine) Petrochko, Hermitage; eight grandchildren, Jenna (Chris) Russ, Natalie Schwarz, Mikaela Hicks, Alexandra Petrochko, Nicholas Petrochko, Stephen Petrochko, Corrine Teaberry and Maura (Dale) Walker.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Miklos and Stella Donley; and two brothers, Joseph and Stanley Janusko.

The family would like to thank the staff of Nuggent's CCRC, Hermitage, and Three Rivers Hospice, New Castle, for their exceptional care and kindness.

Memorial donations may be directed to Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Rd, West Middlesex, PA 16159.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday (2-9-19) in Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex.
