Obituary

Edward E. Emery, Sr., 82, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 3, 2023, in his home with family by his side.

Mr. Emery was born on November 25, 1940, at No. 5 Coal Mine, Mercer, PA, a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Vargo) Emery. He was a 1958 graduate of Sharon High School and on the school's undefeated football team. Following high school, he enlisted and served seven years in the U.S. Airforce.

Following his honorable discharge, Ed worked for 35 years as an electrician at Delphi Packard Electric, Vienna, OH.

Ed was an active member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, where he proudly assisted at the church for its funeral luncheons. He was also a member of the Hickory Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post6166, Hermitage.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. Ed enjoyed being around others and looked forward to golfing and being with friends at the course. He loved to travel and camp and had a passion for history. Ed was a loving and generous man and made friends wherever he went.

He is survived by his wife, the former Carol Burdett, whom he married on July 1, 1961; a son, Edward E. Emery, Jr. and his wife Dawn, Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren, Katie Emery and her husband Dan Dzurec, and Eric Emery and his wife Michaela; two great-grandchildren, James and Violet; and two sisters, Deborah Chewar and her husband Mike, Florida, and Victoria Collins and her husband Jeff, Kentucky, sister-in-law Sheila Emery, Colorado.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Emery; a nephew, Steve Emery; and two great-nephews, Robby and Ryan Ford.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, in the church, with Rev. Richard Allen, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.
