Edward E. Dalton Jr., 69, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully in his home, Wednesday, January 14th, 2026.
Mr. Dalton was born August 2, 1956, in Cleveland, OH. He lived a life defined by dedication, loyalty, and quiet strength.
After graduating from Hickory High School in 1975, Edward followed in his father's footsteps by building a long and successful career in the automotive industry. He worked in automotive parts sales for more than 30 years, earning the respect of coworkers and customers alike through his strong work ethic, deep knowledge, and reliability. His commitment to doing things right was evident in everything he took on, and he remained proud of his work until his early retirement in 2004.
Outside of his career, Edward had many passions that brought him joy. He was an avid model train enthusiast and took great pleasure in building and collecting them. He also enjoyed collecting movies and could often be found immersed in a favorite film.
A lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan, Edward followed the team faithfully from childhood, through every season and every outcome. He also had a deep interest in history, especially the Civil War, and spent many hours reading and studying the subject.
Edward was known for the hard work he put into everything he did, his sense of humor, and his unmistakable stubbornness-traits that those who knew him well came to appreciate and love. He was devoted to his family and took pride in being a husband and father.
Edward is survived by his wife, Monika M. Dalton; his daughter, Rebecca Grace Dalton; his step-daughters, Megan Mittal Erway (Nathan Erway) and Emiley Ann Mittal; and his brother, Douglas Wurstner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary G. Dalton and Edward E. Dalton Sr.; and his brother, Theodore H. Dalton.
Edward will be remembered for his dedication, his passions, and the steady presence he was to those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
The family is deeply grateful to AHN Hospice and nurse, Matt Smith, for the comfort, compassion, and dedication they provided.
