Edward P. Bailey, Sr., 84, of Sharon, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday evening, November 20, 2025, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle.
Mr. Bailey was born on December 10, 1940, a son of the late Kenneth and Ruth (Williams) Bailey. A 1958 graduate of Hickory High School, he honorably served in the U.S. Airforce from 1958 to 1962 as an Air Police K9 handler.
Upon his honorable discharge, Ed began working at the former Donnelly's Golden Dawn, Hermitage, working more than 25 years as the produce manager. He was known for his impressive fruit baskets during the holiday season. After the store's closure, he worked in other stores produce departments, before taking a job in the maintenance department of Sharon School District, where he ultimately retired.
Ed enjoyed woodworking, model railroads and researching projects. He filled his free time watching Youtube, such as Ants Pants, Working Horses with Jim, and Lumnah Acres. When his children were younger, he cherished time together fishing. He also liked bowling and animals, especially his cats and dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Beverly J. Rusbashan, whom he married on September 14, 1963; two children, Edward P. Bailey, Jr. and Elaine Patton, all of Sharon; his cats, Maggie and May; a brother, Daniel Bailey (Pat), of Brookfield, OH; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents; Ed was preceded in death by two brothers, K. William "Bill" and Alan Bailey.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to an animal charity of the donor's choice.
There will be a private graveside service and a celebration of life at a later date.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
