Edmond D. Marino of Sharpsville, formerly of Cocoa Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018, in his residence. He was 77.
Mr. Marino was born November 22, 1940, in Sharon, a son of Dante E. and Rose (Seaman) Marino. He was a 1958 graduate of Sharpsville High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.
Ed graduated from Gannon University, Erie, completing his undergraduate studies with a dual major in history and English. He later enrolled in graduate studies at Georgia State University where he first earned a Masters, and ultimately a Doctorate degree, both in history.
Ed began his career teaching history at Chaney High School, Youngstown, and after relocating to Cocoa Beach, FL, continued teaching for several years.
After returning home to the Shenango Valley, Ed worked as the office administrator and investigator at the Mercer County Public Defender's office, Mercer.
He later returned to education as interim headmaster at Bradford Central Christian High School, Bradford, PA.
During his retirement, he owned and operated the Buillion Shoppe, Sharpsville, an online business specializing in historic military photos and insignias.
Ed enjoyed reading and spending time at his condo in Cocoa Beach, FL. He loved spending time researching history, particularly military history, and was an avid collector and purveyor of rare military artifacts. He appreciated the music of Frank Sinatra and classic movies.
Surviving are: a sister, Sandra Imhof, Sharpsville; and a niece whom he was very fond of, Ellie (Jacob) Karrasch, and their son, Sawyer, all Harpers Ferry, WV.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Marino
