Earnest "Earnie" Bliss, Jr., 91, of Jefferson Twp., passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle.
Mr. Bliss was born on August 16, 1933, in Painted Post, NY, a son of the late Earnest and Laura Viola (Nye) Bliss, Sr. He was a graduate of Painted Post High School. Following high school, he honorably served in the US Navy during the Korean War.
Earnie began working in the cable industry as an installer. Throughout his career he was promoted and retired as the Vice President of Star Cable. Following retirement, he worked briefly as an over-the-road truck driver.
A proud veteran, Earnie was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6166, Hermitage. He was also a member of the Jaycee in Houma, LA, where he served as past president.
He is survived by his wife, the former Peggy A. Greer, whom he married on November 11, 2012; six daughters, Laura Strebel (Rich), Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Robin Zaborowski (Scott), Youngsville, NC; Tina Jones (Stephen), Mercer. Marsha Leighty (Christopher), Pennsburg, PA, Deborah Bliss, New Castle, and Valerie Rinear (Thomas), Cincinnati, OH; a son, Earnest Bliss III, Alburtis; a brother, William Bliss, Garland, TX; seventeen grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Earnie was preceded in death by his first wife, Leslie Bliss; and a granddaughter, Holly Techaira.
