Earl “Skip” Feigert, Jr., 79, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in Quality Life Services, Mercer, surrounded by his family and friends.

Mr. Feigert was born on July 9, 1947, in Sharon, the first of five children of the late Earl and Marguerite (Madden) Feigert. Skip graduated from Hickory High School (Hermitage, PA) in 1965. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Edinboro State College in 1969, and his master’s degree in education and history at Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA.

He began his teaching career in 1969 and taught elementary and middle school grades for the Hermitage School District. Skip also coached freshman football and middle school wrestling for several years. He retired in 2002 with 33 years of service.

Skip continued his childhood love of sports into adulthood. He was on Edinboro’s track team in 1968. He played semi-pro football for the Shenango Valley Blasters in 1971 and 1972. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. Skip’s favorite sport by far was baseball. He played modified fast-pitch softball for Notre Dame in the Shenango Valley Church League from 1965 through 1992. In 1996, Skip started playing Old Timer’s baseball. This became Skip’s most enjoyable sporting activity ever. Often playing in two leagues each year, he played his last game in the spring of 2024.

Skip was a faithful member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. In his younger years, he taught CCD classes, and was a dedicated member of the Eucharistic Adoration Group for many years.

He enjoyed vacationing at North East, PA and traveling to Asheville, NC. He loved his family, had many close friends- Butch Shaffer (Bonnie), Pat Pruent (Nancy), Nick Simko (Betty), Jeff Long (Brenda); plus his many baseball teammates. Skip loved vanilla ice cream, had a strict rule of what counted as a “fish” and was never, ever allowed to fix anything of value or cook- we will miss him dearly.

Skip is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rebecca T. Feigert; two sons, Tom Feigert (Roxana), and Steve Feigert (Missy); a stepson, John Dougherty (Kelly); two sisters, Beverly Tasker, and Mary Lou Jones (Robert); sister-in-law, Sandy Feigert; a brother-in-law, Jim Topper (Pat); and his son’s mother, Tina Mills (Jeff). Also surviving are six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews of whom he loved very much.

In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Mary Topper; two brothers, Don and Bill Feigert; a sister-in-law, Leslie Topper; and his good friend, Tom Lancaster.

In lieu of flowers, it was Skip’s request that donations in his memory be given to the Prince of Peace Center, 502 Darr Ave., Farrell, PA 16121.
