Duane E. Smitley

Duane E. Smitley,65, of Sharon, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 12, 2026. He was born on March 18, 1961, in Sharon, PA, to Barbara Smitley Kruis and Harry “Bud” McKelvey.

Survivors include his Mom, Barbara Smitley Kruis (Warren Carter); two daughters, Dawn (Ashley Greer) Smitley of Fairborn and Heather Smitley of Piqua; four grandchildren, Payton Littleton, Madeline Quillen, Dylan Ward and Roselyn Greer; a great-grandson, Royce Burns; one sister, Karen Hardin; a beloved niece, Veronnika Hardin; and an extended niece, Breanna Matthews. Waiting in Heaven for him are his brother, Ronnie Smitley; extended brothers, Collie and Johnny; Rosemary Smitley (the beloved mother of his girls), Momma D, Uncle Gene, Grandpappy, whom he adored, and Harry “Bud” McKelvey.

Duane went back to school in 1985 to make a better life for his family. He went on and was a successful CNC operator for 30 years. He married Rosemary in 1981. And even after they went their separate ways, they continued a deep friendship. Duane was loved everywhere he went. A funny and kind-hearted man. He was a good son to his mom. She had a close relationship with Duane and was so thankful for his selflessness.

If you knew Duane, you knew he was a fly man. He loved music and shared that joy amongst his family. Head boppin and body groovin to some disco and dance music always made for fun times !!! The good times we will always hold dear to our hearts, and he will be missed very much.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
