Dorothy E. Wherry, 472 Jefferson Avenue, Sharon, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Saturday (1-23-10) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. She was 90.

Mrs. Wherry was born June 23, 1919 in Patton, PA a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Blanche Yeager.

Daugherty and was a 1937 graduate of Patton High School.

Dorothy retired in 1989 from the former Whitmer-Smiths in downtown Sharon where she was employed as a sales clerk for 32 years.

She was a member of St Joseph's Church, Sharon, and enjoyed making floral arrangements, crafts and gardening.

Her husband, Vernon Wherry, whom she married November 20, 1937, passed away November 23, 1951.

Surviving are: two sons, William Wherry, Sharon; and Vernon Wherry and his wife Patricia, The Villages, FL.; a sister, Donna Govoni, Noblesville, IN; a granddaughter, Laura Crowder and her husband Mark; and a great grandson, Caleb Crowder, all Orlando, FL.; numerous nieces and nephews; and family friends, Carol Roscoe and Jean Grimm Wilson.

Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Sheehan; and three brothers, Robert Connor, Thomas Daugherty and Kenneth Daugherty.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mercer County Area on the Aging; or Sharon Regional Hospice Home Care, 740 E. State St., Sharon 16146.
