Dorothy M. Reiter, 99, of Sharon, passed away Thursday morning, January 29, 2026, in Garden Way Place, Hermitage.
Mrs. Reiter was born December 29, 1926, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Roy and Bettie (Shuttleworth) Leedham. A lifelong resident of Sharon, she graduated from Sharon High School in 1945.
A dedicated and loving homemaker, Dorothy enjoyed volunteering, particularly at the Lobby Shop of Sharon General Hospital. She looked forward to monthly card games with her longtime friends and enjoyed family vacations, especially to the beach.
Dorothy was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Sharon, where she served as financial secretary and sang in the choir. For many years, she worked alongside her husband, John, serving as the bookkeeper for their family business, Reiter Fire Equipment.
Her favorite title was “grandma,” and Dorothy adored her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Her husband, John H. Reiter, whom she married October 8, 1949, preceded her in death on March 1, 1985.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Janet Kettering, Hermitage; a son, John H. Reiter, II, (Pamela), Hubbard, OH; seven grandchildren, Samuel Herald (fiancée, Megan), Joshua Herald (Erin), and Rebecca Herald (fiancé, Jonathan), and John Reiter, III, Benjamin Reiter, Joyce Reiter, and Mary Reiter; and six great-grandchildren, Connor, Allison, Aidan, Madison, Mila, and Megan.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Leedham; and a son-in-law, John Kettering.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to First Baptist Church of Sharon, 301 W. State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday (2-7-26) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
A funeral service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. Saturday, in the funeral home, with Rev. John Trojak and Rev. Matt Bupp, co-officiating.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
