Dorothy M. Regan, 85, of New Castle passed away Sunday morning, May 13, 2018, in her residence.
Mrs. Regan was born May 3, 1933, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Sylvester F. and Marie (Lazorchak) Zarilla. She was a lifelong area resident and a 1951 graduate of New Castle High School.
Dorothy retired in 2000 from the Lawrence Co. Tax Claim Bureau located in the Lawrence Co. Court House, where she worked as the Tax Claim Director for 23 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, New Castle.
Dorothy actively volunteered as a member of the Jameson Junior Guild at Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle.
She enjoyed playing cards, particularly 500, and participated in many card clubs throughout the local area. Dorothy loved spending time with her Yorkshire Terroirs, Maddie and Mickey, especially while taking them for walks outdoors.
Surviving are: her beloved husband of 66 years, William "Bill" Regan, Jr., whom she married April 5, 1952; a daughter, Deborah M. (Peter) Grauer, of Buford, GA; a son, William E. (Rebecca) Regan, III, of Dallas, GA; a sister, Shirley Konestky, Oil City, PA; and a granddaughter, Casey.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Zarilla.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday ( 5-16-18 ) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. Thursday ( 5-17-18 ) in St. Mary Church, Mary Mother of Hope Parish, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, with Rev. James Downs, as celebrant.
