Obituary

Dorothy McCabe of New Castle Avenue, Sharon, passed away of complications from leukemia on Friday, November 12, 2010 with family at her side. She was 85.

Dorothy was born September 10, 1925 in Mahanoy City, Pa a daughter of the late Hilbert and Helen Rutkauskas Techentine.

After graduation from high school she was employed as a secretary at Koppers Co., Baltimore, MD, during WW II.

Dorothy had a keen interest in politics, fashion, and art; was devoted to her family; enjoyed reading, baking, sewing, and playing cards; and traveled extensively.

Dorothy was a past president of the Sharon Mothers of Twins Club; past president of St. Joseph Parochial Grade School PTA, Sharon; a Life member of what is now Sharon Regional Health System; and served as Judge of Elections in Sharon 4-1 for many years.

Her husband of 43 years, Charles McCabe, preceded her in 1989.

Survivors include seven children: five sons Patrick (Lois) McCabe, Amherst, MA; Terrence McCabe, San Diego, CA; Dr. Charles (Kathleen) McCabe, New Orleans, LA; Keith (Donna) McCabe, Cleveland Hts., OH; David (Dr. Laura) McCabe, Haslett, MI; and twin daughters, Maureen McCabe, Sebastopol, CA; and Dr. Laurel McCabe, Petaluma, CA; and twelve grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters Helen Seitz, Baltimore, MD; Rose Kadelock, Philadelphia, PA; and Darlene Griffith, Hummelstown, PA; and a brother Paul Techentine, Mahanoy City, PA.

Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by four sisters Jean Techentine, Grace Paone, Margaret Orlando, Myrtle Pierce; and a brother, George Techentine.

Calling hours: 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, (11-16-10), in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 in St Rose Cemetery Chapel, Hermitage, with the Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, officiating.

Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hermitage.
