Dorothy Alma Malone

Dorothy Alma Malone, 72, of New Castle, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 7, 2026, in UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Malone was born August 11, 1953, in Lynn, MA, a daughter of the late Henry and Francis (Story) Blais. She was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Moore High School, Orlando, FL, and would go on to obtain her associate's degree in liberal arts from the University of Central Florida.

Upon graduating from college, Dorothy worked in the financial department at NASA before pursuing her passion for helping others by owning and operating Dorothy Senior Services, her home healthcare business, for more than ten years. She went on to become an EMT, and ultimately retired from the Garrettsville Fire Department, Garrettsville, OH, in 2009.

A very talented artist, she enjoyed creating paintings for her family and friends. She also took great pride in maintaining her flower beds around her home.

On July 7, 2010, she married her husband, Richard Malone, in Myrtle Beach. He survives at home.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by three children, David Green (Shannon), Wadsworth, OH, Jonathan Malone (Joanna), Mooresville, NC, and Jill Allison (Matthew), Neshannock Twp.; 14 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Daniel Green; and brother, Henry Blais, Jr.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday (4/14/26) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

A celebration of life will immediately follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
