Obituary

Burial Office and Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Friday for Dorothy B. Gordon, New Castle, who passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday (1-30-11) at 12:40 p.m. of natural causes. She was 88.

She was born on January 17, 1923 in New Castle the daughter of Arnold and Catherine Weaver Barnsley.

A lifelong area resident, she was an alumna of Union High School.

Mrs. Gordon worked for Citizens Bank for more than 15 years and previously she had worked for the Bell Telephone Company both of New Castle.

She was a long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church, or what is now known as St. Jude's Episcopal Church, New Castle, and belonged to the Church Guild.

She was a member of the Clen-Moore Garden Club, Life After Fifty Five (LAFF), and the Wimodausis of New Castle. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Jameson Hospital. Her husband, Glenn R. Gordon whom she married on September 20, 1947, passed away on August 7, 2004.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cathy Harvey and her husband Michael, residing at Spofford, NH, and Sally Greer and her husband Jeffrey, residing at Franklin, MA. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren.

Her family suggests that in lieu of flowers that all memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Episcopal Church, 212 N. Mill St., New Castle, Pa. 16101.

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday (2-3-11) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 111 W. Falls St. New Castle, Pa.

Burial Office and Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated with Rev. Dennis Blauser on Friday (2-4-11) in Trinity Ministry Center, 212 N. Mill St. New Castle at 11:00 a.m.
