Obituary

Dorothy Louise 'Gardner' Duncan, 1428 Sunny Ave., New Castle (Union Twp.) passed away at 5:30 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011 in her residence. She was 86.

Mrs. Duncan was born January 15, 1925 in New Castle the daughter of William John and Jennie Kay Jenkins.

She was a 1943 graduate of New Castle High School.

Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Church ? Mary Mother of Hope Parish and its 500 Club and Little Flower Club.

Her first husband, Eugene Gardner Sr., whom she married in 1942, passed away in 1961. Dorothy's second husband, Lawrence O. Duncan, whom she married May 27, 1972, passed away on December 30, 2009.

She is survived by a daughter, Emma Ferguson and her husband Charles 'Bill', New Castle and a step-daughter, Donna Jean Kovacs and her husband Kenneth, Lakeland, Fl.; two sons, Fred Gardner Sr. and his wife Margie, Neshannock Twp. and Robert 'Joe' Gardner and his wife Sharon, Union Twp.; three brothers, Fred Jenkins, Ocala, Fl, Edward Jenkins and his wife Joyce, Sarasota, Fl and Thomas Jenkins and his wife Edith, Gibsonia, PA; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by a daughter-in-law Pamela Gardner of Pulaski, PA.

Besides her parents and two husbands, Dorothy was preceded in death by two sons Eugene Jr. and Francis Gardner; three brothers, David, Bill and Dick Jenkins and a sister Donna Silvis.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m in St. Mary's Church, Mary Mother of Hope Parish with Rev. Victor J. Molka Jr. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for Mass.

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, New Castle.
