Funeral Mass will be Wednesday for Dorothy "Dot" Marie Gagliardi, Ridge Avenue, Sharpsville, who passed away at 11:50 a.m. Friday (6-19-15) in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, following an extended illness. She was 70. Dorothy was born Jan. 30, 1945, in Sharon, a daughter of Paul M. "Dan" and Winifred McCaffrey McNerney. She was raised in Sharon and graduated from Sharon High School in 1963. In her early years she worked for Sears in the Shenango Valley Mall, Hermitage. She later graduated from the former Shenango Valley School of Business, Sharon, where she earned her associate's degree in accounting. The school hired Dorothy as a teacher following her graduation and she later worked in its financial aid department as well. She retired from First National Bank where she worked in collections. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville. Dot belonged to the auxiliary of Sharon American Legion Post 299, and she was a social member of Sharpsville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6404. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her husband Frank F. Gagliardi Sr., whom she married June 20, 1964, survives at the residence. She also leaves: her daughter, Catherine "Caye" Campoli and her husband Patrick J. Sr., Sharpsville; two grandchildren, Jessica D. Campoli and Patrick J. Campoli Jr.; a s ister, Catherine Downie, Cape Coral, Fla.; and a brother, Daniel McNerney and his wife Barbara, Vero Beach, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Frank F. Gagliardi Jr. Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday (6-23-15) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, Inc. 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday (6-25-15) in St. Bartholomew Church, 311 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, with the Rev. Matthew J. Strickenberger, pastor, as celebrant. Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
