Dorothy Kathryn Davis, formerly of 118 Beechwood Ave., Wheatland, passed away peacefully 10:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, in Avalon Springs Nursing Home, Mercer. She was 90. Mrs. Davis was born August 12, 1926, in Sharon, a daughter of Theodore and Mary Mihalcin Tatomirovic. She was a lifelong area resident and attended school in a one-room school house, #6 School, Lackawana Twp.

During WWII, Dorothy worked at the former Carnegie Steel's Farrell plant as a flame cutter making armor plates for tanks. She then worked at various laundries throughout the Shenango Valley, and receiving awards for employee of the month and employee of the year.

Dorothy was of the Serbian Orthodox Faith.

She enjoyed listening to any kind of Serbian music, and dancing polka. Dorothy will be remembered as a hard worker who loved and cared for her family dearly, particularly her two grandsons.

Her husband of over 65 years, Fred Davis, whom she married February 10, 1950, passed away February 22, 2015.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mary K. Marti and husband James, New Wilmington; and Debra Davis, Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Dolores Vasil and her husband Norbert, Sharon; and Violet Venetta and her husband Robert, Hermitage; two grandsons, James Marti, II; and Dakota Marti; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Millie Bozzo; and five brothers, Leonard, Theodore, Stanley, Bronko and Donald Tatomirovich.

The family would like to thank the office staff, aids, nurses and therapists at Avalon Springs Nursing Home; and Dr. David Hoyt and Dr. Frances Pucharich, for their compassion and the exceptional care they provided to Dorothy.

Calling hours will be 1 p.m. until the time of service Monday ( 3-6-17 ) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday , in the funeral home, with Rev. David Mastroberte, pastor of St. John's Orthodox, Hermitage, officiating.

Interment: America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
