Dorothy "Dukey" J. Burnett of Greenville, formerly of Sharon, passed away at
3:35 a.m.
Thursday, March 31, 2016, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, after an extended illness.
She was 62.
Mrs. Burnett was born February 10, 1954, in Sharon, a daughter of Henry Porterfield, Sr. and Jeanetta Ward Porterfield.
She was a lifelong area resident and attended Sharon High School.
A homemaker, Dukey was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and WWE superstar, John Cena.
She enjoyed dancing, bingo and the Sons of Anarchy television series, particularly Jax Teller.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who fondly called her Grandma Duke.
Surviving are: her husband, Robert E. Burnett, West Middlesex; three children, Robert Burnett and his girlfriend Susan Hipkins, Sharon; Peggy Sue Tribley and her husband Michael. Greenville; and Charles Burnett and his wife Veronica, also Sharon; nine grandchildren, Anthony, Shawn, Michael, Jakey, Stacia, Lisa, Brittany, Kylie and Dakota; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Luzar, Youngstown; five brothers, Henry C. Porterfield, Jr. and his wife Patricia, Aiken, SC; Michael E. Porterfield, Nesbit, Mississippi; Robert L. Porterfield and his wife Linda, Hermitage; Charles T. Porterfield and his wife Tami, Sharon; and Rodney A. Porterfield and his fiancé Rachel Reed, Sharon; and several nieces and nephews.
Dukey was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Gail Boles, Sherry Stone and Crystal Porterfield.
