Obituary

Dorothy M. Bukovinsky of 4796 Thomason Road, South Pymatuning Township, formerly a 56-year resident of Oak Street, Sharpsville, passed away peacefully at 8:46 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, with her loving family by her side. She was 81. Mrs. Bukovinsky was born July 25, 1932, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of George and Freda Mae Kelly Kashmer. She moved to the area as an infant and attended the former Sacred Heart Parochial Grade School and Sharon High School. Prior to her marriage, Dorothy was employed at the former Sharon General Hospital as a surgical technician. She retired from Sharpsville Area School District, where she worked in the cafeteria for many years. She was a longtime member of St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville. Her husband of 56 years, Edward Andrew "Buck" Bukovinsky, whom she married May 18, 1957, passed away May 30 of this year. Surviving are: three children, Bruce Bukovinsky and his wife Maria, Transfer; Mary Ann Goughler and her husband Bruce, Sharpsville; and Dale Marie Dawson and her husband Tim, Volant; seven grandchildren, Brad Bukovinsky and his wife Monica; and Brandon Bukovinsky, all Transfer; Elisha and Josh Dawson, Volant; Tonya Meals and her husband Patrick; and Mike Goughler and his wife Nicole, all Oil City; and Jeff Goughler and his wife Leigh Ann, Sligo, Pa.; seven greatgrandchildren, Jake, Alex and Taylor Meals; and Emily, Eric, Ethan and Emma Goughler; four sisters, Edna Riffe, Transfer; Margaret May and her husband Jack, Cortland; Helen Kashmer, Hubbard; and Christine LaRocca, Florida; five brothers, Edward Kashmer and his wife Joanna, New York; George Kashmer Jr., South Carolina; William Kashmer and his wife Sandra, Masury; Paul Kashmer and his wife Winona, Virginia; and James Kashmer, Sharon; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, camping, praying the Rosary and the times she shared with family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved all of her pets throughout the years. The family would like to thank Sharon Regional Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Dorothy during her illness. Besides her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Catherine Morrison and Mary Ann Doddato. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148. Matthew John Strickenberger, pastor, as celebrant. Interment: St. Ann's Cemetery, Hermitage.
