Dorothea I. "Dee Dee" Fee, 66, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Wednesday morning, October 21, 2015. She was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on March 17, 1949 to the late Albert and Ella Mae Taylor Baeckel. She was a 1967 graduate of Shenango High School. Dee Dee was a familiar face to many at the Lawrence County Courthouse where she worked for exactly 20 years as a fiscal officer in the Treasurer's office. She was a long-time member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, St. Mary's Church. Dee Dee took pleasure in making ceramics and pottery with her daughter and enjoyed volunteering at her church and traveling. She visited her son and his wife in Dubai in 2013. She also enjoyed baking. In a city where cookie-making is an art, Dee Dee was a master - her ladylocks and chocolate chip cookies graced many a wedding table. A loving mother and grandmother, her greatest joy came from spending her time with her family. Dee Dee treated her children's friends as her own, embracing them as part of the family. She is survived by a daughter, DeAnna Fee; four sons, Charles (Heather) Fee of Kuwait, Douglas Fee of Butler, Patrick (Allison) Fee of Pittsburgh and Mark Fee of New Castle and two grandchildren, Logan Warner and Chloe Fee. Also surviving is her sister, Deborah (Daniel) Miksza of New Castle; four brothers, Greg (Nancy) Baeckel of Indiana, Bruce (Marian) Baeckel of New Castle, Albert (Karen) Baeckel of New Castle and Doug (Judi) Baeckel of Shanksville, Pa along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her former husband James P. Fee on October 9, 2015. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 111 W. Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday in St. Mary's Church with the Rev. James Downs as the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association https://donatenow.heart.org/
