Obituary

Doris M. Parkany, Sharon, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Friday (1-01-10) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. She was 92.

Mrs. Parkany was born April 2, 1917 in Sharon, the eldest of nine children, to the late Thomas P. and Anna Mary Hug Glaser.

A lifelong city resident, she was a 1935 graduate of Sharon High School.

A devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Doris was an avid gardener and a gifted quilt maker, having completed more than thirty in her lifetime.

She attended the First Baptist Church, Sharon, and was a past member of its quilters group. Doris also enjoyed making ceramics and loved to bake homemade bread and maple twists.

Her husband, John Parkany, whom she married November 17, 1937, passed away August 9, 2004.

Surviving are: two daughters, Carol Baltuz, Hermitage; and Elaine Mason and her husband Donald, Chesterfield, MO; two grandchildren, Brian Mason, Chesterfield; and Tamar Larsson and her husband Peter, and their four children, all Brastad, Sweden; a sister, Bonnie Latcheran, Hermitage; two brothers, Edward Glaser and his companion Phyllis Tucker, Brookfield, Ohio; and Thomas Glaser and his wife Dolores, Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by two infant sons; and five siblings, Elva Mudrey, Elmer T. Glaser, Eileen Murphy, John E. Glaser and Wayne A. Glaser.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland, Ohio 44106 where Doris was a guest while undergoing radiation treatments.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday (1-5-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon, with the Rev. John M. Trojak, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Sharon, officiating.

Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
