Doris Katherine Kimmel, 89, of New Castle passed away peacefully with her family by her side Saturday morning, June 9, 2018, in her residence.

Mrs. Kimmel was born May 17, 1929, in Ellwood City, a daughter of the late Melvin "Barney" and Elsie (Lumley) Baney. She was a 1947 graduate of Lincoln High School, Ellwood City.

A homemaker, Doris dedicated her life to caring for her family.

She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Ellwood City.

Doris enjoyed participating in card clubs and attending Sparklers Bible Study at First Baptist Church, New Castle. She had a talent for crafting, baking and gardening.

Surviving are: her husband of 69 years, Edward "Joseph" Kimmel, whom she married February 10, 1949; three daughters, Debbie (Greg) Fountaine, of Greensburg, Pa., Judy (Paul) Fronius, of New Castle, and Lynnette Kimmel, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, Dan Kimmel, of Novi, Mich., and Michael (Terry) Kimmel, of New Castle; and eight grandchildren, Terri Rechter; Shelly Stone; Rory, Brent and Curtis Kimmel; Matthew and Erik Fountaine; and Jessica Kimmel.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Kay Boyle; and a brother, William Baney.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lawrence Co. Humane Society, 628 Pearson Mill Rd, New Castle, PA 16101.

Entombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens, New Castle.
