Obituary

Donna M. Murray, 87, of Sharpsville passed away peacefully Monday evening, November 12, 2018, in her residence.

Mrs. Murray was born August 9, 1931, in Meadville, PA, a daughter of the late Don C. and Mignon "Pat" (Haas) Jewell. Shortly after graduating from Sharpsville High School in 1950, she began a career as an advertising sales representative.

Donna worked for several local radio stations throughout her career, including: WPIC, WFAR, and WGRP.

She was also active in local politics, and served a term on the Sharpsville Area School Board.

Most recently, Donna worked as the courtroom Tipstaff for Judge St. John in the Mercer County Courthouse.

She was an active member of "Toast of the Town Tappers," who rehearse at the Senior Center in Hermitage. Donna was also one of the four founding members of the "Mercer Country Sr. Follies," and until this past year, performed in the group's annual fundraising production that benefits the Mercer County Area Agency on Aging (MCAAA).

Her husband, Austin P. Murray, whom she married February 23, 1952, passed away December 31, 2012.

She is survived by a daughter, Maureen Murray-Jaklic; and a sister, Sally White, both of Hermitage; a sister-in-law, Margie Jewell, of Champion, OH; two step grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Mini; and cat, Argyle.

In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Calvin Jewell.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to an animal advocacy organization of the donor's choice.

In lieu of traditional services, a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
