Obituary

Donald F. McCann, 1077 Bechtol Ave., Sharon, passed away peacefully at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday (4-7-12) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. He was 88.

He was born on September 12, 1923 in Sharpsville Pa., the son of James P. McCann and Hazel I. Redmond .

He was a member of Sharpsville High Schools graduating class of 1941. He attended what is now known as Youngstown State University.

Mr. McCann worked for 43 years at the former GATX plant in Masury, Oh. He was a founding member of the GATX Credit Union and served as auditor for 14 years.

He was a former member of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon.

Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, boating and camping in years past.

His wife the former Alberta Rebecca McGinley whom he married on September 6th 1949, passed away on October 4, 2002.

He leaves his three sons, Mark D. McCann and his wife Pamela Jo, Hermitage, Eric P. McCann and his wife Pamela Marie, Transfer, and Gregory J. McCann, West Middlesex, Pa., and daughter Karen A. McCann Rossi, Transfer, three grandchildren, Melanie McCann, Nathaniel McCann, and Matthew Rossi and his wife Niki, and one great granddaughter, Kara Rose Rossi.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Clinton Rossi who passed away July 2, 2006, two brothers, James P. and Paul E. McCann, and a sister Elizabeth 'Betty' Sams.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to the Buhl Land Golf Course 715 Hazen Road Hermitage, PA 16148.

Calling hours: 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday (4-12-12) in St. Mary's Cemetery Chapel, Hermitage.

Services: A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (4-12-12) in the cemetery chapel with Rev. John S. Lynch, retired priest officiating.

Inurnment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage. Arrangements have been entrusted to the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon.
