Obituary

Donald Cipriano formerly of Hermitage, passed away the morning of Saturday, April 8, 2017, in AHUJA Medical Center, Beachwood, OH. He was 91.

Mr. Cipriano was born August 23, 1925, in Farrell, the son of Domenico and Victoria (Monaco) Cipriano. He was a lifelong area resident and 1943 graduate of Farrell High School. Donald served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired as an electrical maintenance supervisor in 1985 from Sharon Steel, where he was employed for 37 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon; and the United States LST Association.

Donald was an accomplished craftsman and particularly enjoyed wood and metal working. He was glad to help many people building decks, and very proud of the grandfather clock and wooden boat he constructed. Donald also enjoyed reading about history, especially military history.

His wife, the former Mary Ann Butala, whom he married on April 15, 1950, in Sacred Heart Church, Sharon, passed away December 10, 2011.

Surviving are: three daughters, Mary Ann Stuhan and her husband Richard, Shaker Heights, OH; Jean Ellen Zierenberg, Strongville, OH; and Janet Bohne and her husband Richard, Cincinnati, OH; a son in law, James M. Uhlik, Monclova, OH; ten grandchildren, Brendan Stuhan, Sara Stuhan, Brian Stuhan, Caitlin (James) Gillooley, James (Nan) Uhlik; Allison Uhlik, Nikolaus (Fiance' Nicole Schuer) Zierenberg, Kerry (Jason) Ashburn, Jessica (John) Pascoe and Steven Bohne; one great grandchild, Maeve Pascoe; and two brothers, William Cipriano and his wife Agnes, Sharon; and Richard Cipriano and his wife Giovanna, Brookfield, OH.

In addition to his wife, Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Judith Lynn Uhlik; a son in law, Mark Zierenberg; a sister, Adeline Treftz; and two brothers, Andrew and Michael Cipriano.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, PA 16146; or to the Buhl Park Corp., 715 Hazen Rd, Hermitage, PA 16148.

Calling hour will be 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass, Monday, April 17, 2017 , in St. Joseph Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday , in the church, with the Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
