Dominic Scelsi, 90 W. Main Street, Greenville, passed away peacefully at 2 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, following an extended illness. He was 85.
Dominic was born April 17, 1927, in Indiana, Pa., a son of Michael and Ester Stefannini Scelsi.
He was a 1945 graduate of Sharon High School.
An Army veteran, he served in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He retired from Shenango Inc., Sharpsville, where he worked for 42 years.
Mr. Scelsi was a member of St. Michael's Church, Greenville; and a former member of the Italian Home Club, Greenville. He enjoyed the outdoors and in his early years he liked to hunt and fish in his spare time.
His wife, the former Julia Ann Murray, whom he married July 17, 1954, passed away Feb. 10, 2009.
He is survived by his children, James Scelsi and his wife Diane; Carol Laverty and her husband David; Mark Scelsi and his girlfriend Kim; and John Scelsi and his wife Mary, all Greenville; eight grandchildren, Brianne Gibson and her husband Ryan; Nicholas Scelsi; Tim Scelsi, Amanda Scelsi, Nicole Scelsi, Christopher Laverty, Benjamin Scelsi and Alicia Scelsi; and two great-grandchildren, Allison and Ryan Gibson. He also leaves his three sisters, Rose Delnick, Maryville, Tenn.; Emily Jamison, Girard, Ohio; and Linda Scelsi, Cleveland; and a brother, Raymond Scelsi and his wife Emily, Brookfield.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the St. Michael's Cemetery Chapel Restoration Fund, 80 N. High St., Greenville, Pa. 16125.
