Dolores Edith Morgan, Countryside Convalescent Home, Mercer; formerly of 501 Shady Ave., Sharon, passed away unexpectedly at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008, in the hospital of the Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. She was 93.
Mrs. Morgan was born May 21, 1915 in Sharon a daughter of the late Juno and Gertrude Lee Johnson.
She was a 1933 graduate of Sharon High School; a 1935 graduate of the former St. Scholastica Academy of Music, Sharon; and attended what is now Youngstown State University.
Mrs. Morgan retired in 1975 from Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon, where she was the organist for 35 years. She was a substitute organist at the church following her retirement. She was also a piano teacher in the Shenango Valley for many years and played the piano for various programs in area nursing homes and was accompanist on many occasions.
Mrs. Morgan was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon. She was a former member of the Hermitage Woman's Club and the former Sharon Woman's Club. She was a member of the AARP, Hermitage, where she often played 'God Bless America' at their meetings and a former member of the Grottoettes.
Her husband, John R. Morgan, whom she married August 26, 1939, passed away April 1, 2003.
Surviving are; a daughter, Marjorie Petroski, wife of Ronald J. Petroski, Hermitage; a granddaughter, Laura Parish and her husband Ryan Parish, Pittsburgh; a great granddaughter, Alexandria Lee Parish; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Morgan, Ravenna, Ohio; a sister, Marjorie Stadtmiller, Hermitage; a cousin, Vivian Evans, wife of William Evans, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by a son, George T. Morgan, who passed away August 14, 1988.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Meals-On-Wheels, both 396 Buhl Blvd., Sharon, PA 16146.
Calling hours will be from 3-5 p.m. today, November 15, 2008, in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2008, in Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Ronald G. Hartman, pastor, officiating.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
