Obituary

Dolores "Dee" Cole, 114 Aiken Road.,New Castle, passed away peacefully at 9:57 p.m. on Saturday (9-19-09) in the Avalon Nursing Center following an extended illness. she was 80.
Dee, as she was known by her family and friends, was born in New Castle on February 28, 1929,the daughter of Louis F. and Clara A. Preisel Wadlinger.A lifelong area resident, she graduated from New Castle High School in 1948. The following year she married Richard B. Cole on June 24. 1949.She was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, New Castle where she worked for 17 years as a cook in the Parrish rectory. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and traveling, especially to Hawaii where she spent many winters with her husband.
In addition to her husband who survives at the residence, she leaves two daughters Dianne Hamelly and her husband Lewis, Chicago IL:and Vanessa Cole of Waimanalo, Hawaii; two sons Kenneth B. Cole, New Castle, and William A. Cole and his wife Linda, Charlotte,NC; a brother, Joseph Wadlinger and his wife Frances also of Charlotte;three sisters, Zada A. Magoun, Bellefonte, Clare Richardson, New Castle, and Ann and her husband Howard Sloan, Bedford, PA; seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters in law, Mary Wadlinger, Harrisburg, and Elnora Wadlinger, New Castle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Vincent, Bernard, Norman, Frederick, and Ray Wadlinger,and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Bussey and Sr. Eugenia (Grace) Wadlinger SSJ
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday (9-22-09) and from 9:30 until 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory 111 West Falls St. New Castle.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (9-23-09) in St. Joseph the Worker Church with Rev. James Downs, Pastor of Christ the King Parish as celebrant. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 for the church.
