Dolores Bianco, of Hermitage, passed away at 9:27 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 87.
Mrs. Bianco was born October 17, 1931, in Sharon, a daughter of George W. and Mollie (Martinko) Holliday. She was a longtime Sharon resident and attended Sharon area schools having graduated from Sharon High in 1949.
Dolores enjoyed dancing and listening to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin in her youth. She met her future husband, Rosario "Rosy" Bianco, at the Chatterbox dance hall and they were married a couple of years later on January 30, 1954, in the Our Lady of Fatima Church in Farrell. Dolores's high school ambition of traveling was soon fulfilled when she and Rosy moved to Puerto Rico where he was stationed with the U.S. Army as a HAM radio operator during the Korean War. After moving back to the Shenango Valley, Dolores soon fulfilled another lifelong ambition of becoming a mother. She gave birth to her son Ross, and daughters Mariangela and Judi respectively. Dodo, as she was affectionately known by many, was a loving mother to her three children and was the family matriarch, ensuring that her children were always well fed and on time for Sunday Mass.
She always enjoyed cooking and baking, and was also a talented ceramicist and craftsperson. She was also an accomplished seamstress, having made many of her children's clothing and costumes. Dolores cherished the moments she spent with her six grandchildren and was most recently proud to become a great grand mother. In her later years she enjoyed spending time with her husband going camping, spending time in Ellicottville, NY, and going on day trips throughout Western Pennsylvania. She was a devout catholic and a member at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Sharon.
Dolores is survived by two daughters, Mariangela Hudson and her husband John Hudson, Hermitage; and Judith Makki and her husband Houssein Makki, Windermere, FL; a son Ross Bianco, Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored, Tyler, Hallie, Jonathan, Alex, Maxx, and Julian Hudson; a great grandson, Parker Hudson; a sister Georgianne (JoJo) Holliday; and a sister-in-law, Rita Holliday, all of Hermitage.
Besides her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Rosario R "Rosy" Bianco; and a brother, John D. Holliday.
The family would like to thank Dr. David D'Amore and Dr. Charles D'Auria, the assisted living and skilled care staff at St. John XXIII, her evening caretakers, and the hospice care team.
