Obituary

Dolores J. Amato of Hermitage, formerly of Brookfield, passed away at 2 a.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, after an extended illness. She was 82.

Mrs. Amato was born June 6, 1933, in Sharon, a daughter of Anthony and Helen Sikos Conti. She was raised by her grandmother, Rose Ross, and was a 1951 graduate of Sharon High School.

Dee was a lifelong active member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, where she served on parish council, was a Eucharistic Minister and was past co-chairman of the picnic committee. She was also active at the former Sacred Heart Parochial Grade School where she served as president of its Mother's Club and was on the Alumni Reunion Committee.

Dee worked as a teacher's aide in the Brookfield School System for fifteen years and was president of its football and basketball mothers clubs and a past president of its PTA. She was also active in many fund raising events at the school, including the popular talent show.

Along with her husband, Dee bowled in numerous leagues throughout the years and traveled to many bowling tournaments and conventions with special friends for more than 40 years. She enjoyed traveling throughout the country, cooking and baking for family and friends and making pizza for her children and their friends.

Dee was completely dedicated to her loving family and cherished her grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally. She also liked playing cards and getting together with former classmates and family.

Her husband, Dominic J. Amato, Sr., passed away in 2012.

Surviving are: 4 children, Cheryl "Cherie" A. Hrusovsky and her husband Michael, Lake Forest, IL; Denise M. Amato, Northampton, MA; Robyn Linhart, Hermitage; and Dominic Amato and his wife Staci, Neshannock Twp., Lawrence County; 8 grandchildren, Megan Zarling and her husband Zac; Anthony and Joseph Hrusovsky; Jessica and Wynter Linhart; and Maria, Nicole and Carli Amato; and a great grandson, Freddy Zarling.

Besides her husband, Dee was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mark Anthony Amato who died in 2001; a sister, Genevieve Conti; and a brother, Anthony Conti.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. There are no calling hours.


Mass of Christian burial will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016, in St. Bartholomew Church, 311 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, with the Rev. Daniel J. Kresinski as celebrant.

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
