Obituary
Dmitar "Mike" Vucenovic of West Middlesex passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019, in UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 81.
Mr. Vucenovic was born November 13, 1937, in Ramljane, Yugoslavia, a son of the late Jovan and Manda (Injac) Vucenovic. He was educated in Yugoslavia, served in the Yugoslavian Navy for three years and moved to the United States in 1962. Mike was employed at Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant in the electric furnace department for 27 years before the plant closed. He then worked for Trinity Industries, Greenville, in the paint prep department for nearly 10 years, retiring in June of 1999.
Mike was an active member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Hermitage, where he was a longtime president, a vestryman and served on the board for more than 20 years. He was also president of Serb National Federation (SNF), Lodge # 68, Vidovdan; and longtime treasurer of the Movement of Serbian Chetniks.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Desa Prar, whom he married October 25, 1964, in the former St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Farrell; three sons, Bobby Vucenovic and his wife Evelyn, of West Middlesex, Jovan Vucenovic and his fiancé Connye Dobsch, of North Royalton, OH and Steve Vucenovic and his wife Ivana, of Rocky River, OH; four grandchildren, Joshua Vucenovic, Christijana Vucenovic and her husband Richard Beaudoin, Emily Vucenovic and Mihailo Vucenovic; a brother, Marko Vucenovic and his wife Dusanka, of Parma, OH; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States and Serbia.
Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a brother, Spiro Vucenovic; and a grandson, Sava Vucenovic.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 65 S. Keel Ridge Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
A Pomen service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019, in St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 65 S. Keel Ridge Rd., Hermitage, with Rev. Vedran Grabic, pastor, officiating.
Interment: Monastery Marcha, Richfield, Ohio.
