A funeral service will be Tuesday for Dian J. Montgomery of Hermitage. She passed away at 5:30 a.m. Thursday (4-23-15) in Avalon Springs, Coolspring Township, after an extended illness. She was 79. Mrs. Montgomery was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Sharon, a daughter of Walter Sheasley Sr. and Elizabeth Richards Sheasley. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Sharon High School in 1953 and went on to earn her nursing certification from the former Christian H. Buhl School of Nursing, Sharon. She was a registered nurse at what is now Sharon Regional Health System and retired with 38 years of service. She was a member of East Side Church (Baptist- Disciples of Christ), Sharon. Dian was a loyal member of Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, crochet and tend to her schnauzers, that she loved dearly. Her husband, John "Jack" Montgomery, whom she married May 9, 1961, survives at home. She also leaves: her daughter, Karen L. Gill, West Middlesex; a son, David A. Montgomery and his wife Deborah, Hermitage; five grandchildren, Heidi Weyant, Brittany Gill, Tyler Montgomery, Evan Montgomery and Lindsey Nestor; two great-grandchildren, Payten Weyant Mills and Ariaunna Weyant Mills; and a brother, Daniel Sheasley, Altoona. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Walter Sheasley Jr. Contributions may be made in her memory to East Side Church (Baptist-Disciples of Christ), 201 Spruce Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.
