Obituary

Dennis Schell, 72, of Brookfield, OH passed away Monday, December 7, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Denny was born January 13, 1948, in Sharon, a son of Samuel and Mathilda (Schuster) Schell. He attended St. Joseph Parochial Grade School, Sharon, and was a 1966 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage. He also attended Youngstown (OH) State University.

Denny had a varied career.  Most recently, he was employed as the sales manager at New Wilmington Motors, retiring in 2014. He also worked in sales at Dodge City, Hermitage, and Frederick Motors, Boardman, OH.  Earlier in his career, he was employed by GATX and Masury Steel, both Masury, OH, and also managed the Adamsville General Store.

An active and faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Sharon, Denny served on Church Council, was chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee, and volunteered in the kitchen for fish dinners and other church activities.

He also served as a councilman for Yankee Lake Village, Brookfield, for many years.

In the late 60's, Denny served in the U.S. Army Reserves, Farrell, as well as the Air Force Reserves, Vienna, OH.

He was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, Lodge 3029, Sharon.

An avid golfer, Denny also enjoyed bowling with the Sunday Nite 10-Pin League in Reynolds, and following the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was most happy when tinkering around the house or church, and kept a meticulous lawn.

He is survived by his wife, the former Joanne Mazuran, whom he married May 4, 1968, of Brookfield. Also surviving are his daughter, Audra (John) Ganiear, and a grandson, John Michael, Jr., all of North Versailles, PA, a sister, Marlene (Richard) Welch, Scottsdale, AZ, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Denny loved his family and friends. His two girls affectionately describe him as the best husband/daddy a girl could have.

Memorial donations may be directed to St. Anthony of Padua Church Buildings and Grounds, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA 16146; or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday (12-10-20) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday (12-11-20) in St. Anthony of Padua Church, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, as celebrant.

Interment: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage.
