Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday for Dennis A. DeMartinis, formerly of Farrell. He passed away at 9:05 a.m. Sunday, March 15, 2015, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. He was 66. Mr. DeMartinis was born June 19, 1948, in Grove City, the only child of Henry and Jenny Reda DeMartinis. He was a 1966 graduate of Farrell High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University. He was employed on the railroad at Sharon Steel Corp.'s former Farrell plant for more than 25 years and also served as a union steward. Dennis was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, where he served as an usher. He was a former member of Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Valley Council 4003. A drag racing enthusiast, he was a member of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and enjoyed attending local drag races with his friends at Sunset Drag Strip and other locations. He was an assistant football coach at several schools, including Kennedy Catholic High School, Hermitage; and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dennis served in the Army during the Vietnam War era and was stationed in Alaska. He is survived by cousins and his beloved cat, Hank. Services: Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday (3-21-15) in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant.
