Delores was reunited with her husband, James, on December 20, 2025, after many years. She was 91 years old. Delores was born March 20, 1934, the thirteenth child to the late Rose (Milewski) and Albert Maykowski of Transfer, PA. She graduated from Hickory High School class of 1951. After graduation, she worked at the former Community Loan Company, Sharon, PA, as an administrative assistant.
On April 16, 1955, she married the love of her life, James D. Patrizi, Sr., who preceded her in death on April 25, 1996.
Delores was a devoted Catholic and a Charter member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, PA, and the Ava Maria Society which she held several offices. She was also active in the Erie Diocesan Cursillo Movement.
She volunteered at voting precincts on election day. She later served as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, President (1980), and Past President of the Hermitage Democratic Women’s Club.
She has been a volunteer with the Mercer County Unit of the American Cancer Society and has been involved in other community projects. Delores was a member of Mercer County Cooperative Extension Association. Additionally, she was a social member of the Hermitage VFW 6166.
She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, gardening, singing, and dancing. She performed in the Senior Follies “Valley Girls” for years, with proceeds going towards the Shenango Valley Senior Center. Delores was a great Pittsburgh sports fan, enjoying football and hockey.
In her free time and most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children: Cynthia “Cindy” P. Grimley, Lexington, SC; Valerie Patrizi (Drew Vermeire); Lori (Peter Theofilis), all of Pittsburgh, PA; Dr. James D. Patrizi, Jr. (Margaret), St. Clairsville, OH. Her grandchildren, Lt Col Ronald Grimley (Lt Col Katie); Jennifer Parks (Brian), James D. Patrizi, III (Laura); Katherine Patrizi, Joseph Patrizi; Max Theofilis; and five great-grandchildren, Felix Grimley, Nathan Parks, Elizabeth Rose Parks, Alice and Anne Patrizi. She also enjoyed spending time with her sister, Florence Mills, and many loving nieces and nephews, who also survive her.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Edward, Stanley, Henry, Chester, William, Leo and Jerome Maykowski; four sisters, Edna Staunch, Jennie Getway, Helen Kocholek and Sophie Dresel; a grandson, Paramedic Nick Theofilis; and two infant granddaughters, Elizabeth Rose Grimley and Mary Patrizi.
Delores dedicated her life to her family and the Lord. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Nick Theofilis EMS Scholarship, donations can be made out to the PA EMS Provider Foundation and mailed to Lori Theofilis, 146 Crescent Hills Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.
Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday (12/28/2025) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday (12/29/2025) in the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA, with Rev. John Miller and Rev. Glenn Whitman, concelebrating.
Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.
