Delores June Montgomery, 93, of Greenville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in St. Paul's Senior Living Community, Greenville.

Mrs. Montgomery was born on October 9, 1930, in New Castle, PA, a daughter of the late John and Lillian (Gardner) Jones. She was a 1948 graduate of DuBois High School and earned her Registered Nursing Certification at Buffalo School of Nursing.

Delores was employed for many years as an RN in the Operating Room of Maple Avenue Hospital, DuBois, PA. Later in her life, she lived and worked in several locations, including North Port, FL and Blairsville, GA.  In retirement she and her husband traveled extensively, hiking the Appalachian Trail, visiting Europe and Australia, and taking a years-long RV trip throughout the United States and Canada.  Delores moved to St. Paul's in 2018.

Delores was very involved as a leader of Girl Scouting in DuBois during her daughters' elementary and high school years.  She was of the Episcopal faith and was active in her church community wherever she lived.

She is survived by two daughters, Marcia Hirschmann and her husband Joseph, Hermitage, PA, and Betsy Sholes and her husband Terry, Vacaville, CA; three step-daughters, Ann Marie Walkup of Pittsburgh, PA, Catherine Mueller of Cincinnati, OH, and Susan Boyd of The Villages, FL; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Martina, Adam, Gregory, Grant, Michael, and Tom; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her first husband, Edmund Smouse; her second husband, Robert Montgomery; a sister, Betty Gent; and a much beloved granddaughter, Erika Hirschmann.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Paul's Senior Living Community or St. Clement's Episcopal Church, both of Greenville, PA.

Calling hours will be 1 - 2 p.m. Thursday, (07/11/2024) in the Headland Commons of The Villas @ St. Paul's, 339 East Jamestown Rd., Greenville, PA 16125.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, in the Headland Commons, followed by visitation and refreshments until 4 p.m.

Interment: Morningside Cemetery, DuBois, PA.
