David K. Smalley, 1552 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning (8-7-10) in his residence. He was 36.
David was born November 27, 1973 in Sharon a son of Philip A. Smalley, Jr. and Sally M. Goedicke Smalley.
He was a 1992 alumnus of Hickory High School, Hermitage, where he was a member of the baseball and wrestling teams. He matriculated to Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio and in 1997 received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration. David was a member of the University's rugby club and was self employed during his career.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hiking, fishing and bicycling. He also loved to cook.
Surviving are: his longtime companion, Amber L. Redmond, at home; his parents, Hermitage; a brother P. Adam Smalley, III, New York, NY; a sister, Rebecca E. Smalley, Hermitage; and his maternal grandmother, Margaret Goedicke, Leechburg, PA.
David was preceded in death by grandparents, Philip A. Smalley, Sr. and his wife Mary Lou; and Norman Goedicke.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Buhl Farm Trust, P.O. Box 709 Sharon, PA 16146; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday (8-10-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Private funeral service will be held Wednesday (8-11-10) in the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn M. Hink, senior pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Sharon, officiating.
