David A. May, 2280 Orangeville Rd. , Hermitage , PA passed away at 1:35 p.m. Thursday (4-16-09) in UPMC Horizon Hospital , Farrell, with his loving family by his side, following an extended illness. He was 69.
Mr. May was born May 11, 1939 in Sharon a son of the late John D. and Ann D. Galbreath May.
He was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Sharon High School .
Mr. May retired in 2001 from the Youngstown ( Ohio ) Air Reserve Base where he was employed in security for twelve years. He previously worked in plant protection at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation for nineteen years and was also a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for a brief period.
Mr. May was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon. He served with the US Army for eight years and was stationed in Germany ; Geneva , NY ; Vietnam , where he was a helicopter gunner; and Leavenworth , KS , where he was a military police officer.
A family man, Mr. May was extremely devoted to his children and grandchildren. His wife, the former Susan M. Cleary, whom he married June 10, 1961, passed away March 16, 2009.
Surviving are: four daughters, Vickie Hosick and her husband Regis, Sharon ; Beth Thompson, South Pymatuning Township ; Tracey Schultz and her husband D. Brian, Transfer; and Jenny M. Bell, South Pymatuning Township; eight grandchildren, Kelley and Katy Thompson; Neil, Todd and Erin Hosick; Phoebe Schultz; and Piper and Nicholas Bell; a great grandson, William Hosick; two sisters, Darlee Jackson, Sharon; and Beth May-Taylor, New Castle; a brother, Jon D. May and his wife Marsha, West Salem Township; and a former son-in-law, Keith Thompson, South Pymatuning Township.
Calling hours will be from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday (4-20-09) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St. , Sharon .
Requiem Eucharist will be 11 a.m. Tuesday (4-21-09) in St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Douglas Dayton, Rector, as celebrant.

Susan M. May, 2280 Orangeville Rd., Hermitage, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Monday (3-16-09) in the coronary care unit of UPMC Hospital, Farrell, following an extended illness. She was 69.
Mrs. May was born February 6, 1940 in Sharon a daughter of the late Freeman T. and Anne Margaret Aaron Cleary.
A lifelong area resident, she attended Sacred Heart Parochial Grade School and was a 1958 graduate of Sharon High School.
Sue was a caregiver with Sharon Regional Health Systems Hospice Home Care program before she became ill.
She was an active member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, where she was a CCD Instructor. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and her rosary. Sue was a talented artist who enjoyed painting with water colors and oil paint. She also was an excellent cook, seamstress and an avid gardener.
Surviving are: her husband, David A. May, whom she married June 10, 1961; four daughters, Vickie Hosick and her husband Regis, Sharon; Beth Thompson, S. Pymatuning Twp.; Tracey Schultz and her husband D. Brian, Transfer; and Jenny M. Bell and her husband Christopher, S. Pymatuning Twp.; eight grandchildren, Kelley and Katy Thompson; Neil, Todd and Erin Hosick; Phoebe Schultz; and Piper and Nicholas Bell; a great grandson, William Hosick; a sister, Margaret Osborne, Fairport, NY; a former son-in-law, Keith Thompson, S. Pymatuning Twp.; and a former brother-in-law, Dale Osborne, Ontario, NY.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea, 557 Charlotte Dr., Hermitage, PA 16148.
