Obituary
A funeral service will be held on Monday (1-3-11) for David A. Young, Fox Run Road, Tionesta, Pa., formerly of Transfer and Sharon Pennsylvania, who passed away peacefully in the Jefferson Manor Health Center, Brookville, Pa. He was 83.
David was born on March 9, 1927 in Stoneboro, Pa., the son of Edwin and Ellen Connors Young.
He attended Stoneboro Schools in Mercer County.
Mr. Young retired from the former Sharon Steel Corporation's Farrell plant n 1983 where he had been employed as a first helper for 36 years.
He was a former member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
An outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and riding his four wheeler (ATV).
A decorated veteran of WWII, he served with the United States Navy in the South Pacific Theater of Operations and was honorably discharged with several medals and citations. He was a member of the Reynolds Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7599.
His wife the former Mary Anne Hansen whom he married on October 30, 1967, passed away on July 21, 2003.
He is survived by his daughter Cynthia A. Selnekovic and her husband Joseph, Brookville, PA., four sons, Dannie C. Ryhal and his wife Cathy,Golden, CO, Michael Q. Ryhal and his wife Carrie, Myrtle Beach, SC, Robert G. Ryhal and his wife Theresa, Hermitage, and John F. Ryhal and his wife Krystal, Edinburgh, PA.; a daughter in law Barbara Young, Dover , DE; PA., 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He also leaves a son from his first marriage Robert J. Young, Olean NY,
He was preceded in death by a daughter Roxanne Denny and two sons, Dennis and Terry Young, his four sisters, Leah Burdette, Margaret Anderson, Lucille Riether, and Ann McAnallan, and four brothers, John, Teddy, Thomas, and George Young.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or the American Cancer Society 320 Bilmar Dr. Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
