Darryl "Chewy" Brown of Sharon passed away at
3:17 p.m.
Thursday, May 12, 2016, in St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Youngstown, Ohio.
He was 60.
Mr. Brown was born March 24, 1956, in Newark, NJ.
He was a 1974 graduate of Irvington High School, Newark, NJ, and served with the Marines for two years as an expert rifle and marksman pistol shooter.
Chewy was employed as an EMT for Newark County Fire Department for 12 years; Heavy Rescue in Irvington for 23 years; Newark EMS for 4 years; East Orange, NJ EMS for 2 years; and New York, NY Ems for 2 years.
He was also a truck driver in New Jersey for 12 years.
Chewy was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are: his wife, Jennifer (Jefferson) Brown, whom he married July 10, 2004; four children, Rashawn Smith, Dia Brown and Latoya Brown, all New Castle, PA; and Natasha Broxton-Garry, Stroudsburg, PA; 10 grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Calvin Jefferson and his companion Monica Sims; 2 sisters-in-law, Katrina Harrison and Patrice Jefferson Wise and her husband Maurice, all Sharon; 4 nephews, Bryce Jefferson, Dorian Jefferson, Branden Jefferson and C'Angelo Harrison, all Sharon; a niece, Danyall Harrison, also Sharon; an aunt, Shirley Levert and her husband Vernon, North Carolina; close friends, his cousin Rotter Green, Sharpsville; Richard Boatner, New Castle; and Arnold Wapple, New Jersey; and a host of cousins.
Chewy was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Brown; his step-father who raised him, Johnny Ray; an infant daughter, Brittany Brown; and an aunt, Marion Jones from New Jersey.
There are no calling hours.
A private memorial service for immediate family members only will be held
Friday
at his home.
