Darlene Sandra Hofius, 78, of Jefferson Twp., passed away on Monday afternoon, June 15, 2026, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle, PA.

Mrs. Hofius was born on May 22, 1948, in Del Rio, TX, a daughter of the late Oscar and Rosemary (Fellows) Thomas. She graduated from Del Rio High School and married Glenn Hofius on March 22, 1968.

A dedicated homemaker, she also worked at the former J.C. Penny Department Store, in the former Shenango Valley Mall, and the former Bobby G’s both in Hermitage.

Working on a puzzle in the afternoon with a glass of sweet tea and a book close by may remind you of Darlene. She was a Texas girl at heart who followed the love of her life, Glenn, to Pennsylvania, where together they raised a beautiful family: Richard, Cindy, and Shane.

Darlene kept a tidy house and lived a quiet, private life. She loved hummingbirds and Scrabble with Bonnie and enjoyed a lifetime of playing golf alongside Glenn and her "Bestie" Sharon. Some of the most precious people in her life were her grandchildren: Marianna, Kaylee, Dalton, Emily, and Cody. She treasured the time she spent with them and was proud of each one.

She was a wife, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend to many. She was always willing to lend a hand or offer a listening ear whenever someone needed her. At times, she could have a tough exterior, but beneath it was a heart larger than the state she was born in. Her strength, love, and quiet kindness touched the lives of those around her in countless ways.

Darlene will be deeply missed here on earth, but we find comfort in knowing she is now rejoicing in heaven, breathing with ease, and reunited with the loved ones who went before her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband at home; two sons, Richard E. Hofius and his wife, Amanda, of Henderson, NV, and Shane Hofius, of Clarion, PA; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Jeanine Hoffman, of Texas.

In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Hofius; a brother, Douglas Thomas; and a brother-in-law, Sonny Hoffman.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Lakeside Evangelical Church, 3203 N. Hermitage Rd., Transfer, PA 16154.

In keeping with Darlene’s wishes, there are no services.
