Daniel Burton Webber, 71, of Sharpsville passed away unexpectedly in Italy on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, while celebrating his 24th wedding anniversary with his wife.
Dan was born February 26, 1947, in Sharon, a son of Harold and Mary (Wade) Webber. A 1965 graduate of West Middlesex High School, he served on his class reunion committee and was the keynote speaker at his 50th class reunion in 2015.
Dan owned and operated Dan's Repair That Glass for more than 20 years and previously was employed as a crane operator at the Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 15 years where he was actively involved in the union.
During his retirement he continued working with and mentoring the owner of Joe's Auto Glass. Dan was a classic car enthusiast and proudly displayed his 1966 Chevy Nova and his 1987 Cutlass Supreme at Cruise Ins' throughout the area and at the annual Father's Day Car Show where he was the recipient of many awards. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed attending races at Sharon Speedway.
A standout bowler, he participated in many leagues during his lifetime and was inducted into the Mercer County Bowling Hall of Fame. Dan loved spending time with his family, particularly in the summer on the shores of Lake Erie, and at ball field watching his granddaughters play in the Sharpsville girls fast pitch softball league. He also enjoyed meeting up with his friends for daily coffee and conversations at local eateries. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Rose of Sharon Lodge.
Dan is survived by his wife, the former Janet L. Iorio, whom he married June 4, 1994; three daughters, Tiffany S. Langham (David), Lancaster, KY; Mandy Hinkle (Gerald), Sharpsville; and Nikki Leyde (David), also Sharpsville; eight grandchildren, Zachery Scarmack, Logan Langham, Ryan Hinkle, Mia Aley, Macie Aley, Emily Leyde, Jenna Leyde and Maggie Leyde; a sister, Jackie Atkinson; two brothers, Ronnie and Bobbie Webber; and several in-laws and their families.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Susan O'Brien; and an infant.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Make a Wish Foundation (wish.org).
Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018, in the funeral home, with Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, officiating.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
