Obituary

Daniel "Odin" Smith, 46, of Sharon, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Sharon Regional Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and community.

Born on August 8, 1978, in Hartford, CT, Odin was the beloved son of James and June (Pietz) Smith. He attended Brookfield High School and later found his calling in Sharon, PA, where he became a guiding light for many.

For the past 12 years, Odin poured his heart and soul into co-owning and operating The Emerald Tablet alongside his dear friend, Alanna Isis Knox. There, he became a trusted source of wisdom in herbal medicine, touching the lives of countless individuals seeking healing and connection. His presence extended far beyond the shop—Odin was the heartbeat of many community events, hosting drum circles and joyfully sharing his rhythm at senior centers, WaterFire, and festivals throughout the area.

Odin lived a life of deep compassion and generosity. He never hesitated to offer a helping hand, open his home to someone in need, or provide mentorship and guidance to those navigating life's challenges. His kindness was boundless, and his legacy lives on in the many hearts he uplifted.

A gifted artist and free spirit, Odin expressed himself through music, martial arts, and his deep love for nature. Whether drumming, playing the keyboard, riding his scooter, or practicing archery, he found joy in the simple moments. He also had a special place in his heart for his cats, who brought him comfort and companionship.

Odin is survived by his father, James Smith of Rock Hill, SC; his mother, June Smith of Basking Ridge, NJ; his sister, Carolyn Francis (David) of Milford, NJ; his cherished nephews, Erick and Colin Francis; his life partner, Karin Worrell, of Lordstown, OH; and his beloved godchildren, Asha and Issac, the children of his dear friends Alanna Isis and Tyler Knox.

Odin was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, an aunt and many uncles.

Odin believed in the inherent worth and dignity of every individual regardless of their circumstances, ensuring that those often overlooked were seen, heard and valued. Odin's spirit will live on through the lives he touched. He was one of a kind—loving, loyal, creative, and endlessly giving. He will be missed more than words can express.

For those who would like to attend, there will be a memorial service and drum circle at Allie's Sweet Tooth (across from the Emerald Tablet) 47 E State St, Sharon, PA on Saturday, April 12th, from 12 pm-3 pm. More details can be found on the Emerald Tablet Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/AEthericAlchemy333

Odin was unconditionally accepting of everyone! If you were blessed to know him, you know his fashion sense was one-of-a-kind as he lived his life by the beat of his own drum. Feel free to come as you are, he would have it no other way!
