Daniel C. Gerber, 76, of Slippery Rock, passed away early Friday morning, April 24, 2026, in Kadima Rehabilitation and Nursing, New Wilmington.
Mr. Gerber was born June 13, 1949, in Pottsville, PA, a son of the late Daniel L. and Esther (Pawley) Gerber.
Daniel, a proud veteran, served his country in the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, he began working as a truck driver for U.S. Food Service, until his retirement, after 35 years. He would then drive part-time for Pitt Ohio for 18 years.
On February 13, 1993, he married the former Lynn Waltenbaugh. She survives at home.
He was a former member of the Elks Lodge, No. 69, New Castle.
Daniel was a true outdoorsman who found his greatest joy in hunting and fishing. He was an accomplished pool player and also enjoyed skiing and traveling. A talented musician, he played the drums for several bands, most notably the Mirage. He was also a wonderful cook, best known for his exceptional seafood pasta.
In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Giselman (Denny), Duncansville, PA; three sisters, Christine Cloud, Patricia Polheiber, and Karen Burket, all of Altoona, PA; granddaughter, Sarah Specth, Altoona, PA; great-granddaughter, Maddie Specth; stepson, Jay Sherman (Christine), Harlansburg; and two step-grandchildren, Alyssa and Joshua Sherman.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Phillip Gerber; and sister, Janet Hardsted.
In keeping with Daniel’s wishes, all services will be held privately.
Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Union Twp.
