Obituary

Dale Frislid, 80, of S. Pymatuning Twp., passed away in Erie, PA on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, after a brief illness.

Mr. Frislid was born on June 12, 1945, in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY, the son of the late Johann and Lola Mae (Goforith) Frislid. He grew up and was educated in Long Island. Following high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he learned electrical maintenance, servicing Continuous Wave Radars.

Along with his wife, the former Marianne Theresa Fumich, whom he married on April 27, 1969, he relocated to the Shenango Valley in 1970, where he put his military electronics training to use working at Flowers TV and Radio in Hermitage, PA and then spent nearly twenty-five years as an electronics repairman at Sears and Roebuck in the Shenango Valley Mall.  Later, he worked at Bortner Bus Company and ultimately retired from Dean Dairy Products, both in Sharpsville. Never one to stay idle, Dale enjoyed several entrepreneurial ventures, starting Suburban Electronics, repairing VCRs and small electronics. He was also partnered with Mr. Tom Woods to form Woods and Frislid Salvage, a company that reclaimed building materials from aging barns and other structures.

Dale was a selfless man who unfailingly gave his time and energy to his community. He was a longtime member of the South Pymatuning Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, serving several terms as Fire Chief. He also spent many years as a volunteer with the former South Pymatuning Youth Association, managing the clubhouse, softball, and Little League fields.

In his daughters' younger years, he cherished time spent with them as he coached them in softball. As his grandchildren also took up sports, he enjoyed his seat in the bleachers, cheering them on. Dale was also an exceptional painter, especially talented with oil on canvas. His children and grandchildren are proud to display his artwork in their own homes.

His wife, "Pixie," passed away on December 13, 2023. Following her passing, he continued to tend their large vegetable garden, sharing homegrown treats with the strong local community he cultivated with his kindness and joy for giving. He was most excited to learn how to make pie, using his late wife's favorite recipes. Dale was very fond of his neighbors and appreciated their abundant kindness and friendship over the years. Many will miss seeing him walk his beloved black lab, Tucker.

He is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Lyn Callaro (Joseph), of West Chester, PA, Theresa Marie Dzuris (Mark), of S. Pymatuning Twp., and Laurel Mae Sockrider, of Peoria, AZ; 12 grandchildren, Colleen Frislid, Leeanna and Isabelle Callaro, Theresa and Katherine Adams, Stephan Cico II, Teagan, Lillian and Gunnar Dzuris, and Sophia, James and Abigail Sockrider.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dale was preceded in death by all 11 of his siblings.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, at www.stjude.org .

A celebration of Dale's life will be held at a later date.
