Dale R. Bessell, 63, of Eastbrook passed away peacefully following an extended illness Friday morning, May 18, 2018 , in The Grove at New Castle Nursing Home.

Mr. Bessell was born April 15, 1955, in New Castle, to the late Roy M. and Erma Jean (McElwain) Bessell. He was a lifelong area resident and a 1974 graduate of Laurel High School, New Castle, where he was an active member of the Future Farmers of America.

A farmer his entire life, Dale worked the Bessell Family Dairy Farm for many years, later in life raising beef cattle.

He was a member of the Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church, Portersville.

When he had the opportunity, Dale loved to go fishing.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Brenda L. Altman, whom he married October 20, 1984; two daughters, Amy (Corey) Gargasz, Struthers, OH, and Laura Jean (Steven) Cole, Bridgeville, PA; a son, Matthew Bessell, Harmony, PA; a sister, Maryann (David) Reed, Grove City; three brothers, Roy Bessell, Jr., Mackinac Island, MI, Bruce (Karen) Bessell, Cloverdale, IN, and Larry (Alicia) Bessell, Portersville; and a grandson, Kayden Decker.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Bessell.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday ( 5-22-18 ) in Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Charles Brown officiating.

Interment will be in Unity Baptist Church Cemetery, Harlansburg.
