Cora E. Mateer, 89, of New Castle, passed away February 18, 2024, in the Grove at New Castle.

Mrs. Mateer was born May 27, 1934, in Mount Jackson, PA, a daughter of the late William and Erma (Harman) Shiderly.

In 1963, she married her husband, William Mateer, who passed away in 1990.

In her younger years, Cora was an avid bowler. Above all, she loved her family and the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchilden.

Cora is survived by a daughter, Teresa Smith, New Castle; a son, Richard Show (Sherly), of Lancaster, PA; a sister, Wanda Lawrence; three brothers, Glen, Carl, and Eugene Shiderly; five grandchildren, Jodylynn Taylor (Richard Lutz), Carrie Kuhn (John), Richard William Show, KathyJo Peterson (Earl Snyder), and Gary Alley (Amanda); 13 great-grandchildren, Scott and Brandon Hooks, Tyler and Brady Kline, Hailee and Jackson Show, Nicholas Alley, John Peterson Jr., Braden, Dakota, Tristian, Grantlee, and Naomi Alley; three great-great-grandchildren, Sierra Hooks, and Sophia and Amariana Peterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Cora was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Seinkner, and Kathy Alley; two brothers, Francis and Kenneth Shiderly; two grandchildren, Chuckie Taylor Jr., and Jesse Alley Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Layden and Makenzie Hooks

In keeping with Cora's wishes there will be no services.
