Colleen Currie, 787 S. Darby Road, Hermitage, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (2-2-10) afternoon at her residence. She was 65.
Colleen was born February 15, 1944 in Robertsdale, Pa. to Lester and Neva Black Thomas.
She attended Hartford Schools.
Colleen retired from the Verland Foundation where she found her greatest joy and fulfillment helping the less fortunate who have intellectual and physical challenges.
A Christian, she loved her Lord Jesus and was a member of Victory Christian Center, Coitsville, Ohio. She was a longtime member of the Wheatland American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 432, and she enjoyed playing bingo. She also adored her dog, Pupperdoo.
He husband Dennis C. Currie whom she married on June 11, 1961, survives at the residence.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and caring friend, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to husband, she is survived by her father Lester Thomas, Brookfield, five daughters, Sherry Kriebel and her husband Kenneth, Wheatland, Denise Bacich, Sharpsville, Donna Diclaudio and her husband Doug, Kimberly Jones and her husband Greg, all of West Middlesex, Sue Sopko and her husband Ronald, also Sharpsville, and her son Dennis Currie and his wife Tammy, Hermitage, two sisters, Gail Johnson, Campbell, Oh, and Joyce Reese and her husband Bill, Cortland, Ohio: two brothers, Rev. David Thomas and his wife Kathie, Poland, OH, and Brian Thomas and his wife Becky, Hartford, Oh, her father and mother in law, John and Betty Currie, Hermitage, and her two sister in laws, Rita Young and her husband Paul, and Donna Currie, 20 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her son John Currie, and her sister Darlene Johnson.
