Clara R. Allshouse, 85, of Highland Terrace Apartments, 111 W. Fairmont Ave., passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Clara was born Feb. 11, 1929, in New Castle to the late David M. and Regina Scott Allshouse. Clara was employed in the laundry department at the former St. Francis Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Clara is survived by three sisters, Mary Cartwright, Rose Golba and Regina Allshouse, with whom she made her home, all of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Clara was preceded in death by three brothers, George Allshouse, David M. Allshouse Jr. and Edward Allshouse; and a sister, Teresa Jones. Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, for St. Mary's Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will celebrated at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Michael R. Ackerman, Parochial Vicar. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Sheila Burick, Celtic Hospice and the tenants of Highland Terrace for the care and kindness shown to Clara and her family during her illness.
