Christopher James Reda of 8055 Addison Rd., Masury, OH. passed away at 5:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Sharon Regional Health System. He was 54.
Mr. Reda was born on August 25, 1954, at Hahn Air Base, Germany, to Maj. Louis A. Reda and Rose B. Mlakar Reda, both of Farrell, PA
He moved at age 4 with his family to a small farm in Hartford, Ohio, where he resided until admission to Orange Village Care Center, Masury, in 1999.
Chris attended Mercer County School for the Mentally Retarded in Hickory, PA, graduating in 1974. He then worked at the adjacent Mercer County Sheltered Workshop for several years.
Chris enjoyed movies, music, and home-cooked meals, and was happiest while on his tractor, mowing or snowplowing. He was blessed with many friendships throughout the Brookfield-Sharon-Farrell area.
Survivors include: a brother, Michael and his wife Marsha Reda of Amherst, NY; 2 sisters, Patricia Rose (Reda) Kerr of Doha, Qatar, and Bernadette Marie Reda and her husband Chris Lynch of Fayetteville, AR; 4 nieces, Amy D'Alessandro of New Jersey; Michelle Kerr of Chicago, IL; Erin Mink and Chelsey Mink, both of Fayetteville, AR; 6 nephews, James Kerr, Columbus, OH; Matthew and Michael W. Reda both of Buffalo, NY, Brian Reda of Minneapolis, MN, Thomas Reda of Youngstown, OH, and Michael Lynch of Fayetteville, AR; and 7 great- nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents and a brother, Patrick Thomas Reda.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church with Rev. Glenn R. Whitman. There will be no precession to the church from the funeral home, the family requests for everyone to gather directly at the church.
